George (Papa) B. Carver, 86, a longtime resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away Friday September 29, 2017. George (Papa) B. Carver, 86, a longtime resident of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away Friday September 29, 2017. A Memorial Service at the Chapel at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces will take place Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 am to celebrate his life. George was born June 3, 1931 in Tucson, Arizona to LeRoy and Ruth Carver. He came to Las Cruces in 1936 with his family to farm. George attended Las Cruces Union High School and joined the Coast Guard in 1948. He returned to Las Cruces in 1951. George started his career as an IBEW Electrician in 1952 and recently received his 65 Year IBEW Pin. He married Georgia on January 10, 1953 and together they started their family in Las Cruces. George and Georgia resided in Las Cruces mostly, although they had stays in Pinetop, Arizona and Silver City, NM. George was a father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather. For all of those that knew George appreciated his wit, his pranks and his jokes. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. George is survived by daughters Jenette Carver and Suzanne Sandoval and husband Tony; sons Lee Carver, Bobby Carver and wife RitaJo, John Carver and wife Hilda, and Bryan Carver and wife Stacey, all of Las Cruces; Michael Carver and wife Kathy of Cedar Crest, NM, and brother James Carver and wife Jeanne of Las Cruces, NM; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
