George P. Florez, 71 of Dona Ana, New Mexico, entered eternal life September 16 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 6, 1945 in Dona Ana to Ramon and Esther Florez. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He also loved restoring classic cars. He is survived by Rosie, his wife of 52 years, his daughter Mary, of Houston, Texas, his son John and his wife Valerie also of Houston. He had two grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Rose and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother Andy Florez of Dona Ana, as well as many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Esther Florez; sister, Frances Zuniga; brothers Valentine "Tino", David, Jerry, Ray, and Arthur "Tortilla" Florez. Per George's request, no funeral services will be held. Instead, family and friends are invited to celebrate his life this Saturday at his home beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Cowboys for Cancer Research.
