George S. Ortiz (February 25, 1943 - January 9, 2018) George S. Ortiz, 74, of Fairacres, died at the Friendship Village Hospice in Tempe, Arizona on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. He was born February 25, 1943 in El Paso, Texas to Jose Merced and Esther Marie Ortiz. A graduate of Ysleta High School, he worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Army for 39 years before retiring in 2007. George was a devoted and loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Martha Espinoza Ortiz of Fairacres, and three sons: Joseph M. Ortiz and husband Paul S. Hinkle Jr. of Anthony, NM, George A. Ortiz and wife Cody of Albuquerque, and Gabriel S. Ortiz and spouse Vanessa Nunez of Las Cruces. He is also survived by two sisters, Rosalie Silva and husband Antonio of Las Cruces and Martha Ortiz of El Paso, and eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Ortiz and sister-in-law Irene Ortiz. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S Espina St, Las Cruces, NM. Officiating will be Fr. Narciso Rivera. The rite of committal will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Rosary Service
