George R. Danko, 81, completed his journey in this world on Nov. 17. Born Nov. 28, 1926 George was proud to have served his country in WWII. He went on to work for the Ford Motor Company, for nearly 30 years, in Lorain, Ohio. While in Ohio, George married Irene Kowalski and they began a loving family. He is survived by his daughter Denise Lucas, son-in-law Larry Lucas and by his granddaughter Nicole Lucas. While with us, George Danko, lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed his retirement in Las Cruces by filling his days with the things he loved to do. An avid golfer, he often recalled the story of the hole-in-one he hit at the NMSU golf course. Often times, he could be found at Sunland Park betting the races or at home awaiting the results of his recent lottery picks. George loved to travel, and along with his long time companion Lucy Escudero, cruised to New Zealand, Australian, Alaska, The Panama Canal, Hawaii and the Mexican Rivera. He was a friend to all that met him. George will be missed greatly. A gathering in his honor will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Fri. Nov. 21 from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to you favorite charity in George's name. PDF Printable Version
