Georgia P. Courtney, 86, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 29, 1922 in Sheridan, Missouri to Elmer and Carol Johnston McKee. Georgia was a retired Executive Assistant from the Los Alamos National Laboratories. Georgia P. Courtney, 86, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 29, 1922 in Sheridan, Missouri to Elmer and Carol Johnston McKee. Georgia was a retired Executive Assistant from the Los Alamos National Laboratories. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Dona Ana Extension Club and a member of the E.S.A. Sorority. She was also active with the hospital "Pink Ladies", traveled throughout the states with the R.V. club the "Chile-Peppers" and enjoyed playing cards but her passion was for her family. Georgia is survived by her two sons Mike Courtney and wife Rebecca of Las Cruces and James Courtney and wife Rochelle of Salem, New Hampshire; dear friend Bob Colston; grandchildren Dustie, Kenneth, Jimmy, Amber, Christopher, Scott, Brian and Joel; great-grandchildren Tyler, Brandi and Olivia and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her loving husband William H. Courtney, son Kenneth Roebuck and brothers Eldon and Clarice McKee preceded her in death. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held from 2 to 3 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church where Funeral Services to celebrate her life will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Joe Whitley officiating. A private burial for the family will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy, Christopher, Brian, Joel, Fernando and Tyler.
