Gerald Stanley (Jerry) "GP" Rogers, was born 29 February 1928 and died after fighting aggressive Thyroid Cancer. He is survived by a brother William (wife Judith and daughter Shelley) of Reading, Pennsylvania, a daughter Catherine (husband Gregory Kowalski and daughter Frances) of Las Cruces, a daughter Clare (husband Hank Stachura of Gallup, New Mexico and granddaughter Jessica Hubert) of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Jerry was born in Reading, and graduated from that high school in 1945. He earned the BS degree in mathematics at Muhlenberg College in 1948 and a MA degree at the University of Washington in 1951. After three years in the U.S. Army, he taught for one year at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. He returned to graduate school at the University of Iowa and received the Ph. D degree in 1958. He taught mathematics and statistics at the University of Arizona for seven years and for thirty years at New Mexico State University. Jerry authored and edited numerous papers in professional journals and four textbooks. At his request Jerry has been cremated and a Memorial Mass to celebrate his life will take place at St. Albert the Great Newman Center today Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 5:30 P.M.
