Geronimo B. Fajardo, 90, passed away on May 8, 2012 at La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice, Las Cruces, NM. "Momo," as most of his family and friends knew him was the fourth child born to Daniel E. and Rumalda B. Fajardo. He was born on March, 8, 1922 in Hatch, NM. Momo served his country during World War II, was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4308 and life member of the VFW. He also worked at the Bureau of Reclamation in Hatch and later was the Postmaster in Hatch, NM until his retirement in 1978. Momo is survived by his niece, Esther H. Valencia and husband Steve of Arrey, NM; great niece, Renee Pantoja and husband Andy, great-great nephew, Eric and great-great niece, Breanna of Las Cruces; Marcos Fajardo of Las Cruces; brother, Tomas Fajardo and wife Eva and nieces of Tucson, AZ; sister, Rumalda B. Fajardo and nephew, Daniel E. Hernandez of Las Cruces; brother-in-law, John Marquez and family of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceeded in death by his parents and by brothers Miguel, Juan and Albino, sisters Salome and Emilia Fajardo, Isabel Hernandez, and Josephina Marquez. At Mr. Fajardo's request, cremation will take place and a graveside service will be held Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM at 11:00am.
