Gilbert S. Padilla, 79, passed away at 7:45am on Tuesday January 30th. He passed peacefully at his home in San Miguel, New Mexico. Gilbert was born in Derry New Mexico and raised in Las Cruces. Gilbert S. Padilla, 79, passed away at 7:45am on Tuesday January 30th. He passed peacefully at his home in San Miguel, New Mexico. Gilbert was born in Derry New Mexico and raised in Las Cruces. Sixty years ago he met and later married his dear wife Emma Torres. Gilbert worked in California as a machinist for much of his career. He later moved back to his hometown of Las Cruces. He was the father of five sons and five daughters: Raymond Padilla, Alvina Williams, Gilbert Padilla Jr., Gary Padilla, Elizabeth Godinez, Prescilla Molitor, David Padilla, Lorraine Mooneyham, Edward Padilla, Christina Padilla. He was also survived by 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. A visitaiton will be held at Getz Funeral Home from 6-7pm on Monday February 4, 2013 where a prayer vigil will follow at 7pm. Funeral services for Gilbert Padilla will be held at 1pm Tuesday February 5, 2003, at St. Genevieves Catholic Church, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
