Gloria Chappell was born on June 15, 1929 in Sedan, Kansas and passed away on August 10, 2016 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was raised in Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska on a vocal music scholarship. After her first year of college, she and her family relocated to Willard, New Mexico, where she met "the cutest boy she had ever seen", John J Chappell. They were married on June 5, 1950, had three children and remained in New Mexico. Gloria was an active member of various United Methodist Churches, Bridge clubs, and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She loved singing, dancing, and playing games. Gloria is preceded in death by her brother Lon Adams, husband John, and daughter Laferne Williams. She is survived by her sister Erma Lee Sack, son Steve Chappell and wife Sheri of Gruver, Texas and daughter Lonna Andrews and husband Rob of Las Cruces New Mexico, and her grandchildren Thomas Williams, Sarah Williams and husband Dave De Carlo, Adam Chappell, J.T. Chappell and wife Ginger, Dell Chappell, Suzette Stephens and Kenneth Andrews, and her 2 great grandsons Cooper and Connor. Service of celebration of Gloria's life will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Saturday, August 13, at 2:00pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Open Door Thrift Store in Gruver, TX, or the Choir at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces NM. PDF Printable Version
