MAESE, GLORIA Our beloved daughter, sister, auntie, friend and God's faithful servant passed peacefully on Wed., Dec. 5th, ending her struggle with early-onset Alzheimer's. Age 64, she was born Dec. 20, 1947 in Las Cruces, NM. A life-long resident of Las Cruces she attended Catholic school at Holy Cross, Immaculate Heart, and Madonna High, graduating from Las Cruces High in 1965. Attending NMSU she earned a BA in Mathematics (1973), Master's in Industrial Engineering (2001), and will receive posthumously her PHD in Industrial Engineering. She is survived by her mother Emilia, sister Alice and partner Jim Steiner, brothers Raymond, Kenny and wife Helen, and Ben Jr.; nieces Shaunna Kendrick and husband Jeff, Christy Bounds and husband Bill, and Kamala, Katrina, and April; nephews Kenny Jr. and Travis; godson Mathew; 2 great nieces and 5 great nephews; life-long friends Lupe and Nati Vigil and their family, Bernice G. Boyd, and Carolina Glaze; and wonderful caregiver Mary Allen. We all love and miss you tremendously. Gloria loved to play sports and table games, loved music and dancing, and being an auntie to all children in her life. An avid athlete she played many sports throughout her life, most notably softball, volleyball, soccer, and racket ball. She coached the Roadrunners children's soccer team for many years. Gloria retired from NMSU's Agricultural and Extension Education Dept. in May 2005 after 31 years of meritorious service. As an Agricultural Biometrics Analyst she helped many a graduate student complete data analysis for their thesis. Gloria, we know you are singing, dancing, and playing your favorite sports in heaven now that you are rid of that earthly body that failed you. Services include the rosary and a celebration of her life on Thursday, Dec. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home, and mass at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church on Friday, Dec. 28 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
