An amazing father and friend, Gordon Gary Freeman died December 7th, 2017, at his home, at age 78. Gordon was born in Fort Kent, Me, on January 25, 1939, to Henry and Zelie Cormier Freeman. He graduated from Community High School 1957 in Fort Kent, ME, and was part of the winter sports team. Gordon did well in school and enjoyed skiing, ice skating, and shooting. He entered the Army in 1958 where they moved him to White Sands Missile Range. While in the army he also started working at Consolidated Music where he worked on jukeboxes and pinball machines. He frequented Tommy's Roller Rink where he excelled at roller skating. He often taught and competed in figure skating. Here he met his first wife Marilyn and many other friends. After leaving the Army he went to college at NMSU where he received an electrical engineering degree. While college, he had also enjoyed bowling, billiards, and some drag racing, where he met more of his current friends. His son Roger was born here in Las Cruces, NM. Gordon obtained employment for NMSU at the Physical Science Laboratory and worked hard for 22 years. He worked on various electronic missile projects and received many awards. He did a few years of consulting work after leaving the university. He was a volunteer on the Ski Patrol at Cloudcroft and Southern NM, still enjoying some winter activities. Several years after a divorce he married Linda, who joined him with her two children, Monique and Duane. Gordon and Linda moved back to Maine for a short time, and then returned to Las Cruces where he met his friend Sam. Linda preceded Gordon in death in 2015. Gordon had maintained the hobby of bowling winning many awards, he participated in the USBC Nationals for 46 years. He participated in various sports and local events including the Senior Olympics, and he also enjoyed some bingo. He was preceded in death by his brother James Freeman, and his second wife Linda Apodaca Freeman. He is survived by his son Roger Freeman, his brothers Carl, Ray, and Ronnie, his sister Joyce, and his best friend Sam McGee. A Gathering of friends and family will take place at 1 PM, Friday, December 15, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Getz Funeral Home, on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 2 PM. With internment of cremains to immediately follow at Masonic Cemetery. Service Information
