Gottrell H. Wright, MD, 88, of Las Cruces died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009. He was born Feb. 26, 1920 in Moorhead, Mississippi to Noah and Sadie Wright. He was a veteran of the US Army-Air Corp where he served his country honorably during WW II as a Sergeant. While in the service of his country he was awarded the Air Medal, three Oak Leak Clusters to the Air Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross and one Oak Leaf Cluster therto. He loved his family, the outdoors, hunting and fishing but his passion was practicing medicine and helping people. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Dr. Wright is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Glorina Wright of the family home; sons Stephen Wright and wife Pamela of Las Vegas, NV and Roger Wright of Las Cruces; daughter Mary Hoffman and husband Carl of Tempe, AZ and brother James Ed Wright and wife Sue of Mississippi; grandchildren Ahren, Adam, Andrew and Emily and by his great-grandson Benjamin. Also surviving him are his nieces and nephews. Doctor Wright was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Pauline and Gladys. Memorial Services to celebrate his life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home with Danny McKinney of University Church of Christ officiating. PDF Printable Version
