Gregory Gomez, 94, of Las Cruces, died Monday, May 28, 2012. He was born Nov. 28, 1917 in Alvin, TX, to Melchor and Maria Morones Gomez. He was retired from the US Air Force where he served our country honorably during WW II. Gregory had been involved in the Korean Conflict, European Theater and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He then went to work for Lockheed and Civil Service until his retirement. Gregory had also been a Past Post Commander of VFW in Las Cruces and Past Exalted Ruler with the Elks Lodge of Las Cruces. One of his main hobbies was for Ham Radio's. He is survived by his daughters Lillian Hodges and husband Paul of Odessa, TX and Christine Valdez and husband Danny of Garfield, NM; granddaughters Laurie Pieratt and husband Guy of Austin, TX, Melissa Warren and husband Justin of Minot, ND; great-grandchildren Zowe Warren, Derrick Warren and Remy Pieratt; brothers Pete Gomez of Ft. Worth. TX and Johnny Gomez of California; sisters Eva Garza of Houston, TX, Frances Martinez, Nellie Medina, Margaret Chavetta and Isabel Gomez all of Ft. Worth, TX. Gregory was preceded in death by his loving wife Magdalena Herrera whom he married on Jan. 15, 1943. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Ft.
