Guadalupe Ruiz, 87, of Las Cruces died Friday, July 1, 2011 at Mountain View Regional Hospital. He was born November 14, 1923 in Talcuitapas, Jalisco Mexico to Pilar and Guadalupe Ruiz. He worked for many years throughout the valley farming, his knowledge of the land and its soil were deep in his heart. Guadalupe Ruiz, 87, of Las Cruces died Friday, July 1, 2011 at Mountain View Regional Hospital. He was born November 14, 1923 in Talcuitapas, Jalisco Mexico to Pilar and Guadalupe Ruiz. He worked for many years throughout the valley farming, his knowledge of the land and its soil were deep in his heart. He truly enjoyed being outside, fixing anything, and making all kinds of gadgets around the house. After farming, Guadalupe worked for many years at NMSU before retiring. He was a true American, and after gaining his Citizenship was proud of the hard work and opportunity his Country gave him to raise his family. They will forever remember him for the characteristics he possessed, never envious, always charismatic, and most importantly a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Carmen of the family home, three sons, Joe G. Ruiz and wife Lupita of Corpus Christi, TX; Gilbert Ruiz and wife Becky, and Arturo Ruiz and wife Rachel all of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by grandchildren, Serena Ruiz Nicholson and husband Richard, Elena Marie Ruiz, Michelle Marina Ruiz, Jesse Xavier Ruiz, Toni Ruiz, Gilbert Lee Ruiz, Krystal Amanda Ruiz, Sabrina Marie Ruiz, Kimberly Ann Ruiz, Joseph Brian Ruiz, and Eric Douglas McClure Ruiz, and also by five great-grandchildren, Claudia Dorene Munoz, Liberty Abigail Quintero, Nevaeh Mariah Bustillos, Lincoln Abraham Quntero, and Richard Andrew Nicholson II. He was preceded in death by one son Tony Ruiz and one grandson Dominic L. Ruiz. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM the same evening. The funeral mass will be given at 2 pm Thursday July 7, 2011 at the Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. The rite of committal will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
