Guadalupe L. Chavez, 85 Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, of San Ysidro, left her dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be with her heavenly Father on Friday January 30, 2009. She was born December 12, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to Lazaro and Adulfa Lopez. Guadalupe enjoyed and always looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as with her numerous friends who celebrated mass with her at the San Ysidro Mission Church. She and her husband Julian ran and operated the family farm, and Guadalupe was in charge of the fresh fruit stand in front of their house on San Ysidro. For many years she took great pride in providing fresh produce to the many people that would stop by the stand. She will be remembered most for sharing her love, life lessons, encouragement, and guidance to her children and grandchildren, but most of all for the devotion, love and support she gave to her husband, their dad, and grandpa. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Julian U. Chavez, three daughters, Mary Chavez of Las Cruces, NM; Sally Moya (Steve) and Ernestine Chavez (Richard) both of Albuquerque, NM; five sons, Julian L. Chavez (Gloria), Sammy Chavez (Josie), Joe Chavez (Priscilla) all of Las Cruces, NM; Daniel Chavez (Lucille) of Houston, TX; and Henry Chavez (Helen) of Las Cruces, NM. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and a sister, and one grandson Gary Samaniego. A visitation will be held from 6-7 PM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM on Monday February 2, 2009. The funeral mass will be given Tuesday February 3, 2009 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2 PM. The rite of committal will follow at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louis Samaniego, Michael, Jamie, Joseph and Henry Chavez, Stephen Moya, and Myles Martinez. PDF Printable Version
