Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Olivares, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home in Las Cruces, NM, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was born on November 9, 1932, in Canatln, Durango and was the only child of Socorro Rojo. Guadalupe "Lupe" R. Olivares, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home in Las Cruces, NM, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. She was born on November 9, 1932, in Canatln, Durango and was the only child of Socorro Rojo. Lupe was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Angel Olivares of Roswell, NM, and her daughter, Yolanda Evans of Bethany, Oklahoma. She is survived by her four remaining children, Marie Atkinson and her spouse, Jeryl, of Live Oak, Texas; Dora Olivares and her spouse Angel Rangel Moreno, of Vincenza, Italy; Sandra O. Caldwell, and her spouse, Gary, of Las Cruces, NM and Luis Olivares and his spouse, Nora, also of Las Cruces. Grandma Lupe enjoyed watching her eight grandchildren grow up: Mark Girten, Joseph Evans, Cody Evans, Rebecca Weaver, Samantha Burgess, Danae Caldwell, Alina Olivares and Liana Olivares. Additionally, she was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Ty and RJ Girten, Colton and Chloe Evans, Madison and Austen Harper and baby Jackson Burgess. In her 82 years, Grandma Lupe was always out and about. She enjoyed traveling with her children near and far, all over the U.S., Mexico and overseas to places such as Disneyland, Disneyworld, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico City, Acapulco, Paris, Germany, Italy and Spain with her first flight ever in 1977 to Portland, Oregon. She was a good Grammy who will always be loved and kept in her family's heart. A Prayer Vigil is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2015 at 10:00AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Funeral Liturgy immediately following.
