It is with very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Guadalupe Asebez (Aceves) Sanchez, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She was an amazingly selfless, beautiful, loving, and caring woman and was our family's heart and soul. Lupe was called to be with the Lord on February 20, 2022, at the young age of 95 years old, surrounded by her loving family, who will miss her dearly. She was born March 24, 1926, in Anthony, New Mexico, to Pablo and Merced Martinez Asebez. She is survived by her six children - daughters Dolores S. Garcia (Henry), Ramona S. Heredia (Antonio); Sons Enrique Sanchez (Maria), Samuel Sanchez (Jowell), Frederico Sanchez (Josie), and Manuel A. Sanchez Jr. She is also survived by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. In addition, Lupe is also survived by her very special "daughter" Praxedis V. Sanchez and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by the love of her life of 61 years, her husband Manuel H. Sanchez; her parents Pablo and Merced Martinez Asebez; her sisters Amalia and Candelaria H. Acevez; her brothers Pablo, Guillermo, Reymundo, Daniel, and Valentin Aceves (Asebez). Growing up in San Ysidro, New Mexico, Lupe was raised by her older sisters due to the early passing of her parents. She worked hard every day of her life, at times holding multiple jobs to care for her family. She began working in the cotton fields at a young age, then at Memorial Medical Hospital. Her most rewarding position was working as the cafeteria manager at Washington Elementary School. She finally retired from the Las Cruces Public Schools in 1989, having graced multiple schools with her beautiful presence throughout the district. She loved to cook and bake; her biscochos and chile beans were so mouthwatering that her family always asked her to make them for every get-together. We all learned to cook and bake from her and will pass her recipes down through the generations. She also loved to travel, dance and sing, make jokes and go to the casinos. She had the most wonderful sense of humor, which will be greatly missed. Lupe was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. When she could no longer participate in person, she would watch mass from her television at home. She would never answer the phone until mass had concluded. She had a solid faith in God and held no judgment towards anyone; her love was unconditional. She touched many lives and was very loved. At Lupe's request, cremation has taken place, and her memorial service will be held on March 4, 2022, at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. A rosary will begin at 10:30 AM, with the mass following at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place immediately following at St. Joseph's Cemetery on Espina St. After her burial has concluded, a Celebration of Life will be held at Celebrate Hall and Event Center, 522 E. Idaho, Suite B, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88001. Anyone wishing Service Information
