Gudrun C. Fierstine, Passed away Sunday evening, on her way, via ambulance to Mesilla Valley Hospice. Gudrun was born on 10/21/1943, to Simon and Christa Eisert, in Landshut Germany. She married Larry (an army soldier) on 8/1/1968 in El Paso Tx. and became a military couple for 54 years. They spent 28 yrs. together in the Army, where Gudrun found her passion of teaching. She taught Gateway/Headstart (an Army program to introduce soldiers to German customs and language) for many years. In her free time, she volunteered at ACS, (Army community service). At one time she worked as the tour director for the USO in Kaiserlautern. Gudrun was preceded in death by her parents, her mother when she was four years old. Her father was unable to care for her at that time and she was adopted by her natural grand uncle and aunt, who have also passed. She lost son Robert in a car accident in 1987. Tragedy haunted her for much of her life, right up to the end on Sunday.
