Guillermo I. Garcia, 38, of Las Cruces died Friday, Oct. 25, 2013. Will as he was fondly known was born Nov. 5, 1974 in Las Cruces to Guillermo (Memo) and Martha Benavidez Garcia. Will was a teacher at Las Cruces High School and also the head Coach of Las Cruces High School Lady Bulldawgs Fastpitch Softball Team, where he took the team to the 1st ever state champion title in 2013. He enjoyed sports and excelled at all of them but his passion was for his family and friends who will forever love and miss him. Will is survived by his children Nica Garcia and companion Juan Jimenez, Aaron, Alex and Ryan Blu Garcia, all of Las Cruces; parents Willie (Memo) and Martha; granddaughter Stevie Raelynn Jimenez; sisters Denise Garcia and Dyanne Pena and husband Johnny; nieces and nephews Darian Garcia, Alexis, Jordyn and J.J. Pena all of Las Cruces and by his companion Jessica Reyes and her daughter Alyssa Marin. Will was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ricardo and Jennie Benavidez and paternal grandparents Isidoro and Javiera Garcia. A prayer vigil will be at 10 am on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at The Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary. Will's funeral mass to celebrate his life will follow at 10:30 am also at the Cathedral with Fr. Narciso Rivera as celebrant. Rite of committal will be at Masonic Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Lee Munoz, Louie Lucero, Gera Estrada, A.J. Melendrez, Peter and Jose Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are, Nick Ramos, Richard Armendariz, Gabe Garcia, David Gomez, Billy Maryfield, Jim Sosa, Joe Garcia, Robert Ojinaga, Teddy Nieto, Sam Benavidez and Stevie Benavidez.
