Harold D. Gill, 70 of Las Cruces, died Monday July 3, 2006. He was born on September 22, 1935 in Pattonsburg, MO to Herschel and Naomi Gill. Harold was a MSGT in the United States Air Force where he served his country honorably during Vietnam. After retirement from the Air Force Harold became an influence to many young men and women as the NCO for the Mayfield High School ROTC for 18 years. After retirement Harold joined the VFW post 10124, American Legion Post 10, as well as the DAV. Harold was not defined by his military career, but by his love for the Lord and his family. He was a devoted and loving husband of 50 years. He loved to sit with his children and grandchildren. Some of the things that Harold enjoyed were fishing with his grandchildren and going to their sporting and choir events. He was also a devoted member of both Mountain View Christian Church and Ridgecrest Christian Church. Harold is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn of the family home, two sons Clinton Gill and wife Renea of Fayetteville, AR, John Gill and wife Jill of Las Cruces, one daughter Sonja Jones and husband Tom Jones of Las Cruces, three brothers Clinton Gill of Louisville KY, Richard Gill of Farmington, NM, Donald Gill of Farmington, NM, two sisters Naomi Heleine of St. Louis, MO, and Thelma Montgomery of Whittier, CA, and seven grandchildren Christopher, Christianne, Caleb, Sarah Beth, Amanda, Rebekah, Megan and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother John Franklin Gill. A visitation will be held from 5PM to 7PM on Thursday July 6, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 10:00 AM on Friday July 7, 2006 also at Getz Funeral Home. Graveside Service's will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1PM Friday July 7, 2006 with military honors.
