Harold L. Wilkins, 77, of Las Cruces passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Sydney, NE. He graduated from High School in Gering, NE. Harold L. Wilkins, 77, of Las Cruces passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Sydney, NE. He graduated from High School in Gering, NE. Harold was an outstanding high school athlete, holding many records in track and football. He moved to Las Cruces in 1956 working at WSMR for 30 years. He married Frances Malone Aug. 25, 1962. Mr. Wilkins will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Frances Wilkins of the family home; brother Gail Wilkins and his wife Edna of Scottsbluff, NE; two sisters Lois McFarland of Gering, NE and Sharon Lundquist and husband Allen of Scottsbluff, NE. Also surviving him are nieces and nephews including nephew Glen Wilkins and his wife Cheri, Betty Jean Fleming and Ardith Wilkins all of Las Cruces. Harold was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary Wilkins; brothers Earl Wilkins and Eugene Wilkins killed in the Philippines during WW II and by one sister Vera Yelm. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be at 9:00 AM on Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Frank Zamora officiating.
