Harold "Red" Mack, 86 of Las Cruces, NM died October 18, 2013. He was born to Hamilton and Isabol Mack on February 17, 1927 in Gary, Indiana. After serving his country during WW II in the Army, he received his BA from Valparaiso University and his masters degree from Indiana University. He started his teaching and coaching career in Valpariso, IN, returned to his hometown of Griffith, Indiana to teach and coach and finished his teaching career in Greenville, SC. He was inducted into the Valpariso University athletic hall of fame as a member of the 1944-45 "World's Tallest Basketball Team." He was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers George, Robert and Gordon along with his wife Audrey of 63 years. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Roberts and son and daughter-in-law Greg and Lela Mack of Las Cruces and his brother and sister-in-law Howard and Sandy Mack and sister-in-law Nancy Mack. He has 6 grandchildren Robert Parker and wife Rhonda of Peoria, IL, Kathryn Rede and husband Edmund of Bothell WA, Andrew Mack of Las Cruces, Corinne Mack of Albuquerque, Alexander Mack and Brendan Mack of Las Cruces. He has 4 great-grandchildren. Mackenzie Parker, Cecilia Parker, Parker Rede and Asher Rede. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 24 from 6-7 and services Friday October 25 at 10 a.m at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to Mesilla Valley Hospice of Las Cruces. PDF Printable Version
