Harry C. Rominger, 92, of Las Cruces, died Sunday, August 6, 2006. He was born February 16, 1914 in Muncie, Indiana to Harry and Mary Rominger. Harry attended and graduated from DePauw University on a baseball scholarship. He then entered into the US Army Air Corp where he served his country honorably as a 2nd Lt. during WW II. While in the service he was awarded the American Theater Service Medal and the Victory Medal. After service to his country Harry and his family moved to Lombard, ILL, where he then went to work for Western Electric Co. in Chicago, ILL. After retirement he along with his loving wife Garnet Smith who preceded him in death, retired to Scottsdale, AZ., where he was a member of Pioneers of America for telephone company employees, active in Villa Monterrey Association-treasurer, helped start the senior club at Continental Golf Club-treasurer, did volunteer work helping seniors with income tax returns. He then moved to Las Cruces Good Samaritan Retirement Center, served on their Council, and was an avid member of "4:00 Round Table Discussion Group". He was also a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he helped with fund raising project-bonds for capital improvement. Harry loved to travel, golf and do gardening. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two daughters Debbie Schwebke and husband John of Las Cruces and Linda Borchers of St. Louis, MO; grand children Dr. Kristin Dodson, Melanie Schwebke, Kathleen and Matthew Borchers. A celebration of Harry's life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at University Terrace Good Samaritan Auditorium with Rev. Carrol Blevins officiating.
