Harry J. Krettecos, 82, of Las Cruces died on Thursday June 1, 2006. He was born December 30, 1923 in Altona, PA, to James and Katherine Krettecos. Harry was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp where he served his country honorably during WW II as a T-4 with the 111ST SIG RADIO INTELLIGNECE CO. While in service of his country he was part of the New Guinea South Philippines Liberation Luzon Campaign, where he earned the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He also had earned a business degree from NMSU, but he was better known as the co-owner of Toyota Desert Motor Co. here in Las Cruces for many years. He also had a passion for playing golf. Harry will be deeply missed by all his many family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Mary Agnes Krettecos of the family home; son Harry James Krettecos Jr. of Las Cruces; daughters Katherine K. Kelly and husband Earl D. and D'Anne Burton and husband Ivan of Las Cruces; brother Chris Krettecos and wife Nancy of California. Harry was fondly known as "BAH" to his grandchildren Page, James Paul, Jonathan, Paul, Steven and Brittany He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was preceded in death by his daughter Penelope. A prayer vigil will be at 6 PM on Sunday June 4, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 PM on Monday June 5, 2006 also at Holy Cross with Msgr. John Anderson officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Columbarium. Mr. Krettecos will receive military honors.
