Harry N. Treaftis, 89, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, Jan.22, 2011. He was born Nov. 25, 1921 in Schenectady, New York to Nicholas and Sammie Treaftis. He was a veteran of the US Navy where he served our country during WW II, while in the service he was awarded the American Area ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, Philippine Liberation ribbon and the WW II Victory Medal. He was also a retired physicist from General Electric and M.H.S.A. after many years of faithful service. Harry enjoyed the outdoors, weight lifting and was an animal activist. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Sammie Treaftis of the family home; sons James and Charles Treaftis and his daughter Lorena McWaters, grandchildren Megan, Ciela and Nicholas and by two great-grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his two sisters Eugenia and Teresa. At his request cremation has taken place and no local services are scheduled at this time. PDF Printable Version
