Helen I. Petty, 78 of Las Cruces, NM passed away at her home on Monday, July 13, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was born October 24, 1930 in Kaufman County, Texas to Jessie and Leatha Arnold. Helen I. Petty, 78 of Las Cruces, NM passed away at her home on Monday, July 13, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was born October 24, 1930 in Kaufman County, Texas to Jessie and Leatha Arnold. Helen was retired from 1st National Bank of Las Cruces and was an avid vegetable gardener, providing tomatoes and chilis for her entire neighborhood. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Hershell of the family home; two sons, Phillip Mills of San Jose, CA and David Mills of Richfield, UT; one daughter, Jean Mann of Pueblo, CO. Also surviving her is one brother, Cullen Arnold of La Mesa, NM; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, Donnie Bryant, and eight other siblings. Funeral Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum at 10 am with viewing starting at 9:30am on Friday, July 17, 2009 with Pastor Chris McRae of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
