Helen Pauline Vantine Lemelin (or Mousey as she was called by her late husband), age 69, of Las Cruces, NM, slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God on February 1, 2017, at Hospice/La Posada with her devoted daughter by her side. Pauline was born to William R. and Jewel I. Vantine. She moved to New Mexico with her parents when she was three years old and then to Las Cruces in 1952. Pauline married her husband, Jean R. Lemelin, in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1966. In the ensuing years, she was an involved wife and mother. She was active in several outreach and in reach ministries of several Baptist churches. The family wishes to thank members of First Baptist Church of Las Cruces for their love, support, prayers, cards, monetary gifts and meals during the last months of Pauline = s life; as well as the tender care provided by Hospice in the last few weeks. Pauline enjoyed gathering with her family, cooking and making wonderful desserts. Pauline for many years would send cards to others to acknowledge birthdays, get well, comfort and other occasions. Pauline was employed as a Paralegal/Legal Assistant with several law firms in Las Cruces. She was involved in legal assistant organizations within the State of New Mexico as an officer and took on the responsibility of organizing continuing legal education for students, members and licensed attorneys. Pauline is survived by daughter, Stacey Ann (Michael) Hyman of Las Cruces, son Jared Colin (Jennifer) Lemelin of Houston, TX; seven grandsons Jared Leighton Taylor (Lyn) Lemelin, Aaron Jean A AJ @ , Derek James A DJ @ , Evan Jules A EJ @ and James Justin " JJ " Hyman all of Las Cruces, Zachary and Joel Barsness of Houston, TX; sister-in-law Geri Biggs Vantine of Las Cruces; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jackie and Russell Morgan of Agawam, Massachusetts; brother-in-law Larry Demers of Largo, Florida. In addition, Pauline is survived by a niece, numerous nephews and cousins from coast-to-coast and an uncle. Pauline held special in her heart, her aunt, Bernadine Petree of Yuba City, California. Besides members of Adult 4 Sunday School Class, Pauline had a special friendship and bond with Lynne Avitia, Gloria Evans, Nylla Whitlow, Kathy Mitchell, Jerry and JoAnn Miles, Don and Jonell Duzan and so many more. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Roland Lemelin, son Lance Ryland Lemelin, parents William R. and Jewel I. Vantine, and brother William R. Vantine, Jr. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Albuquerque, NM, 1011 Yale, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, in memory of Samuel Bryan Avitia or Hospice/La Posada 299 E. Montana Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, at 106 S.
