Henry D. Chavez Sr. was born March 17, 1930 in the Mesilla Valley to Nemesio and Frieda Chavez. Our beloved Husband, father, grand and great grandfather will be greatly missed. Henry D. Chavez Sr. was born March 17, 1930 in the Mesilla Valley to Nemesio and Frieda Chavez. Our beloved Husband, father, grand and great grandfather will be greatly missed. Henry was always smiling, talking war and farming stories. He enjoyed farming in the Mesilla Valley, Garfield and Las Cruces, New Mexico. Henry was a military Veteran of the Korean War. Henry was always asking for his "babies" all kids were his "babies", he loved all his grandchildren and great. The apples of his eyes were Alexandria, Ariana and Kenny. Henry is survived by his loving wife Catarina "Mom" Chavez of the family home, three sons; Henry, Albert and Nemesio Chavez, three daughters; Rachel Hardman, Jeanine Sanchez, and Lupita Saenz. Two sisters Maggie Rel and Mary Lopez, brother Leandro Chavez, twenty-two grandchildren and Forty-four great grand children, as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews. Henry is preceded in death by his parents Nemesio and Frieda Chavez, Son Hugo Chavez, grand daughter Nicole Lorraine Martinez, Brothers, Joe, Felipe, and Theodoso Chavez, and one sister Augustina Miramontes. At Mr. Chavez's request cremation will take place and service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at St. Genevieves Catholic Church.
