Brother Henry L. Fillio, 68, was called home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 22, 2016 in his resident at 16245 Sly Song Circle, Organ, NM. He was born June 7, 1948 in Millican, Texas to Ed and Inez B. Fillio. Henry attended Lincoln School in College Station, Texas. All grade levels, 1st grade through the 12th grade were in the same location. He later attended and graduated from a college in California. After enlisting with Local Board #13 in Bryan, Texas, Henry served in the U. S. Army and completed a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam in the Infantry and served as the General's driver. He was confronted with danger time after time and was affected medically by the outcome. His military awards and medals included National Defense Service Ribbon/Award, the CIB, M-16 Expert Rifleman and the Army Commendation Medal. He received an honorable discharge and returned to College Station, Texas. He secured various jobs upon his return home from the military, one being a manager at the Ramada Inn Hotel. Henry eventually moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2008 and secured a manager position in the Commissary Deli at White Sands Missile Range, NM and a few years later he secured a position in food working with Walmart in Las Cruces, NM. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he served as an Usher. Henry is preceded in death by his Father Ed Fillio, Mother Inez B. Lister, and Sister Irish J. Fillio. He leaves to cherish and rejoice in his memory his Aunts - Lillie Brown and Sarah Reed of San Antonio, Texas, Sisters - Joyce (Clarence) Davis of Las Cruces, NM, Charlene (Marvin) Dickson of College Station, Texas, Brother - Alvin Fillio of College Station, Texas, Nieces - La'Shelle Foster of El Paso, Texas and Lynn Modique and C'erica Dickson of College Station, Texas, Nephews - Terrance Brown and Shawn Davis of Las Cruces, NM, Great Nieces - Marquise Foster and Abriana Williams of Las Cruces, NM, Great Great Niece - Ambrielle Mapp of Las Cruces, NM, Great Nephew - Trae Dickson of College Station, Texas, Dexter Workman of Austin, Texas, Trenton and Taylor Brown of Las Cruces, NM and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. Visitation (calling hour) will take place from 9 to 10 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2016. The funeral service will start at 10:00 AM immediately following the visitation in Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 955 Walnut Street. The repass will take place at Mount Carmel Baptist Church after the service. The Interment service will take place on June 3, 2016, 10:00 AM, in the Fort Bliss Veteran's Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
