Henry P. Cardenas, 62, of Las Cruces passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2011. "Papa Henry" as he was fondly known was born July 15, 1948 in Tyrone, NM to Marcos and Felipa Cardenas. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served our country honorably. Henry enjoyed dancing and danced for the Vision of Guadalupe with the Danzantes and also was a member of the Moose Lodge but his passion was for driving trucks and had been a driving instructor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Hope Cardenas of the family home; sons Patrick Cardenas and companion Lola and Ben Martinez all of Las Cruces; daughters Lori Ann Hare and husband Christopher of Denver, CO, Desiree Cardenas of Las Cruces, Stephanie Paoli and husband Joe and Chefie Florez all of Houston. TX; brothers Eugene and Armando Cardenas; sisters Rosie Diaz and companion James, Cruzita Jaffe, Virginia Cardenas, Alicia P. Cardenas and husband John; grandchildren Breanna, Brittany, Savanna, Marissa, Maria, Robert, Marco and Kairi and by numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Sgt. Robert C. Diaz for the love and support shown to our family. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 pm on Sunday June 12, 2011 at Getz funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 6 pm. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be at 10:30 am on Monday June 13, 2011 also at Getz funeral Home with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, The US Army and the Devil Dogs of Las Cruces will provide military honors.
