Horacio C. Orona, 86 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at his home. He was born December 11, 1919 in Blawley, California to Jose and Manuela Orona. A longtime resident of the area, he was a farmer and a member of San Albino Catholic Church. Horacio had also served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Army. Horacio C. Orona, 86 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at his home. He was born December 11, 1919 in Blawley, California to Jose and Manuela Orona. A longtime resident of the area, he was a farmer and a member of San Albino Catholic Church. Horacio had also served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Army. Horacio is survived by two sons, Henry Orona; and Richard Orona and his wife Vicky all of Las Cruces. One daughter, Esther Fresquez and her husband Looper of Las Cruces. Three brothers, Isaac Orona, Ismael Orona, and Raymond Orona. Also surviving Horacio are six sisters, Antonia Diaz, Tita Zuniga, Roma Rodriguez, Petra Caro, Pina Gamboa and Nellie Donavan as well as five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Eloisa in 1996, one brother Isidro Orona, and one sister, Francisca Reyes. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to7 PM on Monday, November 13, 2006 at San Albino Catholic Church, Mesilla, NM where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Tuesday November 14, 2006 at San Albino Catholic Church. Officiating will be Msgr. Robert Getz. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors accorded by The El Perro Diablo Marine Corp League. Serving, as pallbearers will be Danny Gamboa, Julian Caro, Chris Bigelow, Pascual Rodriguez, Jesse Hidalgo, and Tony Orona.
