Isaac Diaz passed away February 21, 2016. He was 90 years old. Born in 1925, Isaac lived in Mesilla, NM, his entire life. Isaac served in the US Navy for both World War II and the Korean War. Subsequent to his service in the US Navy, Isaac worked 25-years in various roles with the United States Department of Defense (DoD), and retired in 1980. Isaac took great pride in the pecan farm he began in 1948, with his beloved wife Natividad G. Diaz, who preceded him in death. The farm is still in operation today and is a symbol of his devotion to hard work. Isaac was a talented team roper and devoted many years to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Posse. On weekends his "Lovely, lovely, lovely" as an announcer could be heard complimenting ropers at team roping events. Isaac loved his tractor, using it both on his farm and to help neighboring farmers. One of his favorite pastimes was attending auctions in search of the latest treasure. He was a hard working do-it-yourselfer, with a sharp analytical mind. Up until his tragic accident, Isaac was healthy, still working his farm, and doing one of the things he loved--driving his tractor. Isaac is survived by his 7 children: Isaac Diaz Junior "Sonny", Teresa Rede, Maria Bain, Olga Archuleta, Dina Schlotterbeck, Osvaldo Diaz, and Dennis Diaz. "Grandpa" Isaac has 13 grandchildren; James Christopher, Edward, Edmund, Dorean, Valori, Sarah, Kyle, Tyson, Kira, Natalie, Tyler, Connor, and Kailey, and 14 great-grandchildren; Kyleigh, Rodrigo, Mauricio, Xavier, Parker, Asher, Braxton, Eric, Evan, Elyse, Emily, Milianah, Mattox, and Kaycen. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren; Kelsey, Quillian, Quoia. A visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Getz Funeral Home, with a rosary to immediately follow at 7:00 PM.
