Miguel "Mike" Cardon, 87, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015. Mike was born on March 22, 1928, in Las Cruces, NM, to Francisco and Adelina Cardon. Miguel "Mike" Cardon, 87, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015. Mike was born on March 22, 1928, in Las Cruces, NM, to Francisco and Adelina Cardon. He was retired from the City of Las Cruces. Mike was well known to the softball community working in the concession stand at Maag Park for more than 15 years. He also donated his time at Holy Cross Church as an usher and a Bingo volunteer. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Eloisa Cardon, of 58 years; two sisters Tina Vega and Julia Madrid. His son, Gilbert Cardon of San Diego, California, five daughters Margaret Rothschild and husband Randolph of Tucson, Arizona, Candi Barreras and husband Ruben of Las Cruces, Rachel Cardon and wife Jenny Silverman of Las Cruces, Lupe Avila and husband Pablo of Las Vegas, Nevada and Melissa Cardon of Las Cruces. Six grandchildren, Tressa, Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Hillary, Ryan and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters. The viewing will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday September 11, 2015, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Mike Cardon will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 100 S. Espina.
