Irene Placencio, 79, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, March 4, 2010. She was born May 6, 1930 in Gila, NM to Hilaro and Avelina Polanco. She was a true L.C.H.S. Irene Placencio, 79, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, March 4, 2010. She was born May 6, 1930 in Gila, NM to Hilaro and Avelina Polanco. She was a true L.C.H.S. Bulldawg, working as the cashier for the schools cafeteria for 37 years. Anyone who drove down Idaho at 5:30 am could see her sweeping her carport and sidewalk. She always made people feel welcome in her home making sure all visitors never left her house with an empty stomach. Irene enjoyed cooking for all family gatherings, but her greatest enjoyment was seeing the smiles on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Irene is survived by her husband of 57 years Ramon Placencio; son, David and wife Genoveva Placencio of Las Cruces, NM; daughter, Lydia and husband Conrad Barrio of Las Cruces, NM; brothers, Julio and wife Ruth Polanco of Silver city, NM, Candido and wife Polly Polanco of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Anita and husband Lencho Torrez of Tucson, AZ, Rosa and husband David Casarez, Lila and husband Jimmy Provencio all of Bayard, NM, Lody Polanco of Gila, NM, Maria Lovato of San Juan Pueblo, NM; grandchildren Denise, Jamie and Stephanie Andavazo, Sarah and husband Mikey Lucero, Conrad Barrio, David Placencio, Phillip Placencio and companion Kirsten Rall; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and close friend and neighbor Terry Banegas. Her funeral mass is at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 also at Immaculate Heart. Rite will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be, Jamie Andavazo, David, Phillip Placencio, Conrad Barrio, Bobby Torrez and Matt Tarin. PDF Printable Version
