J. Jesus "Alfonso" Bravo, 86, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008. He was born June 29, 1921 in Abasolo, Guanajuato, Mexico to Fransisco and Augustina Bravo. Jesus had a great love for being outdoors, especially if he was working in his garden or yard. His many years as a farmer taught him great patience and appreciation of the land. After retiring he also worked with his family's business as a prep-cook for Los Compas Restaurants. He will be remembered for his big heart, great humor, but most of all for the grandfather and family man he was. He is survived by his wife Margarita Ramirez Bravo, and nine children, Lenor B. Macias of Chihuahua, Mexico; Fransisco Bravo of Las Cruces, NM; Alfonso Bravo and wife Maria Luisa of Ruidoso, NM; Margarita B. Gutierrez and husband Rudy, Josephina B. Holguin and companion Dennis, Martin Bravo and wife Maria, Estella B. Gonzalez and husband Servando, Vidal Bravo and companion Guadalupe, and Ana B. Holguin and husband Chris all of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by his brother Rafael Bravo, two sisters Josephina Vega and Margarita Zavala, 32 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be held form 5 to 7 PM on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. Alfonso's funeral mass to celebrate his life will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with the Augustinian Recollects officiating. Rite of Committal will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. The privilege of being pallbearers will be Urbano Bravo, Juan Bravo, Rudy Gutierrez Jr., Fernando Gonzalez, Adrian Holguin and Javier Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers are Henry Gonzalez, Luis Gutierrez, Pedro Rivera, Diego Rivera, Vidal Bravo Jr., Alberto Bravo, Matthew Frietze and Andrew Frietze. PDF Printable Version
