James D. Withers, Jim, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM. Jim was born in 1935 to John and Mamie Withers. He married Margaret (Marge) W. Withers in May 1954. James D. Withers, Jim, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Las Cruces, NM. Jim was born in 1935 to John and Mamie Withers. He married Margaret (Marge) W. Withers in May 1954. Jim served his country in the United States Army for over 21 years and was proud to be a Soldier. He continued his service as a Civilian Soldier at NASA and WSMR for an additional 23 years. Jim loved bowling, winning many individual awards. Jim was a supporter of NARFE, the USO, the Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society. He is survived by his daughters, Anita L. Hall (husband Linzy), Carol J. Medeiros (husband Paul) and Patricia A. (Ann) Hanson (husband Rick). He had 8 grandchildren: Tina Hall, L.T. Hall, Aaron Medeiros, Nolan Medeiros, Michael Withers, Brian Withers, Kenny Poor, and Greg Poor, and numerous Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Marge, his parents (John and Mamie), his daughter Linda Poor in 2000 and son Jim in 1994. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, 20 April, at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, 21 April, at Getz Funeral Home followed by interment and military honors at Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Ave. in Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of James D. Withers to Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM. First Visitation
