Jesse Cindy Johnson Sr., 77, passed away January 25, 2015 at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born January 4, 1938 in Tyler, Texas. Soon moving to San Francisco, California where he spent his childhood. Jesse was preceded in death by his grandmother Cinderella Gordon, mother Stella Mae Gordon, father Booker T. Johnson, step father Sylvester Primes, sister Cindy Primes, and daughter Maxine Johnson-Bennett. Jesse is survived by his wife Rosa; sister Queen Ollie Gardner; brother Jerome Primes; daughters Linda Marie Johnson-Young, Juanita Johnson-Cooley, Marta Sleeth, Rosa Cox, Maria Miller, and Christine Johnson-Randall; sons Jesse C. Johnson Jr., Miguel Pena, Ernest Pena, Joe Molina, John Johnson, Patrick Oporto, Able Fabian Oporto, and Alejandro Cobarrubia; numerous grandchildren and great grand children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Jesse served this great country for 23 years beginning his service with the United States Airforce for a short time before honorably transitioning to the United States Army. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Overseas Service Bars (4), and Good Conduct Medal (6). Visitation for Mr. Johnson will be Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 p.m., at Getz Funeral Home, Jesse will receive full Military Honors beginning promptly at 5 p.m. to include the 21 Gun Salute and Presentation of the American Flag to his loving wife for his many years of service to his country.
