Our beloved, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Jovita H. Garcia, 84, of Las Cruces peacefully left her earthly body to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, January 1, 2015. She was born on February 12, 1930 in Fillmore, California to Ezequiel and Maria de la Luz Hernandez Garcia. Jovita retired from the hotel industry in the mid 1980's and successful pursued her part...
Our beloved, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Jovita H. Garcia, 84, of Las Cruces peacefully left her earthly body to be with her heavenly Father on Thursday, January 1, 2015. She was born on February 12, 1930 in Fillmore, California to Ezequiel and Maria de la Luz Hernandez Garcia. Jovita retired from the hotel industry in the mid 1980's and successful pursued her part-time work as a seamstress full-time from her home. She later continued her work with her daughter, Maria at Maria's Alterations. Jovita is survived by her daughters Isabel and husband John J. Lopez of Oxford, MI and Maria Jimenez of Las Cruces, and her grandson Victor Diego Avena of Las Cruces, as well as countless nieces, nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ezequiel, Oscar, and Aristeo Garcia; sisters Elvira Roman and Isabel Garcia. Jovita was well known for her generosity, kindness, talent and loving smile. She loved to sing, music, riddles, sewing and, most of all, her beloved grandson and her loss will be forever felt by those who knew her. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2014 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary to follow at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, January 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with graveside services to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
