Jack E Thalman 97 of Las Cruces, NM passed peacefully in his home on January 19. His loving wife followed, passing away on January 21. Jack was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 7, 1926. Jack loved the Boy Scouts and was proud to have been an Eagle Scout. Jack graduated from Tulsa Central High School then enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War 2 where he trained to be a tail gunner. After the war, he moved to New Mexico and worked for Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph. He enjoyed golf, men’s Bible study, and volunteering at the Farm and Ranch Museum.
Laura Mae (Lewis) Thalman 91 was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 9, 1932. The family moved to Albuquerque where she graduated from Albuquerque High School. Upon graduation, she became a telephone operator for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph. There she met the love of her life, Jack Thalman. They were married 65 years and had 2 children, Bill and Nancy. Jack and Laura moved to Los Alamos, NM where they owned and operated White’s Auto Store. Later, Laura became a loan officer for Zia Credit Union. After retirement, they moved to Las Cruces, NM to get out of the snow. Laura enjoyed game night with friends, volunteering at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum, cross stitching, and traveling.
