James A. Blevins entered into eternal life on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. He was born in Big Spring, Texas on November 8, 1930. Jim moved to the Mesilla Valley in 1934, with his family and worked on the family farm. He graduated from NMSU in 1953, where he was a member of the Aggie's Basketball team from 1948-1952. James was a member of the first team that was inducted to the Hall of Fame at NMSU. Jim was a member of the United States Air Force, Stationed in Germany and later worked for North American Aviation. He then returned to the family farm where he helped the family with farming and care of his parents. He was very athletic and enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities. He looked forward to annual fishing trips with his friends. In later years he also enjoyed hunting for treasures at yard sales. He took pleasure in giving his time, help and gifts to family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all. He is survived by his brother, Bill Blevins, of Elon, North Carolina sisters Charlotte Brown and husband Larry, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Wanda Worrell, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, a network of dear friends, and his little dog Chico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ney and Noreen Armstrong, his older sister, Neydene Ares, and other beloved family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to, Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250, or a charity of your choice, in James's name.
