James Franklin Sims passed away Oct 3, 2018 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. James was born in Mesilla, New Mexico on April 17, 1939 to Carl and Virginia Sims. James grew up on the family farm in Salem with Barbara as his childhood companion. He attended school in Salem and Hatch graduating in 1957. James Franklin Sims passed away Oct 3, 2018 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. James was born in Mesilla, New Mexico on April 17, 1939 to Carl and Virginia Sims. James grew up on the family farm in Salem with Barbara as his childhood companion. He attended school in Salem and Hatch graduating in 1957. After high school James farmed for several years in the Hatch valley. James later moved to Las Cruces and worked for the Clayshulte Brothers and managed a farm in Mexico for several years. James also worked for the Cotton Boll Weevil Control Program. James spent his last months in Welbrook and Sagecrest rehabilitation facilities as well as Mountain View Regional Medical Center and the family extends a warm thanks for the caring help that the doctors, nurses and staff these facilities provided. A special thanks to Doctor Samuels for her long-term care. James is survived by sister Barbara Hartman and husband Larry of Des Moines, WA., sister Susie Martinez of Las Cruces and sister-in-law Phyllis Sims of Hatch as well as several nieces and nephews. James was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Denson of Hatch, sister Linda Alvarez of Alamogordo and brother-in-law David Martinez of Las Cruces.
