James L. Batdorf

May 15, 1944 — September 25, 2011

James L. Batdorf, 67 of Radium Springs, NM died Sunday September 25, 2011 at his home. Jim was born born May 15th 1944 in Dayton Ohio then adopted by parents Carl Otto and Mary Ellen Batdorf on May 24, 1946. He graduated from Beavercreek High School 1963 and went onto work for his father Carl doing trade work and ultimately became a member of both the Carpenter and Millwright Unions. A wielder and machinist by trade; Jim was also an avid John Wayne fan naming his best friend, a yellow lab Duke. Jim honorably served his country with the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller during the Vietnam War, stationed at Tan Son Nhut Air Force Base Saigon during the Tet Offensive of 1968. Jim is survived by his beloved four legged friend Duke, daughter Barbara Batdorf and son Carl Batdorf both of Albuquerque, NM, sister Thelma Bauer of Xenia, OH and Nephews Dean and David Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sandra Grigsby-Batdorf. Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 1, 2011 at Scripture Baptist Church with Pastor Richard A. Johnson Officiating. PDF Printable Version
