Janaan S. Diemer

March 14, 1952 — February 19, 2007

Janaan Diemer completed her baptismal journey February 19, 2007. She was born in Vinton, Iowa, on March 14, 1952. Her life was cut short after a difficult battle with brain cancer and associated complications. She leaves behind her husband and boyfriend of 36 years, Dan, and their daughters Rebecca and Miriam, her parents, Ray & Myra Boots, her brothers Scott Davis, Rob Boots and John Boots and her sister, Linda Estep, and their families. She was preceded in death by her father, John Luckey Davis. Janaan & Dan moved to Las Cruces in 1981, have raised their family here, and have loved this community. Janaan was employed by Las Cruces Public Schools, initially as an elementary special education teacher, then as Special Education Coordinator and most recently as Director of Human Resources. She has served on numerous committees and organizations within the school district and represented the school district at the State Legislature for three years. Janaan has been a member of Peace Lutheran Church since moving to Las Cruces. There she has been council president, and a council member, she has served on numerous committees, and sang in the choir. She has been president and active on the board of the Border Servant Corps, a volunteer organization sponsored by Peace Lutheran. Janaan received her Bachelors Degree from Iowa State University, her Masters from Western Illinois University, and her Ph. D, from New Mexico State University. She was on the Board of Advocates for the College of Education, NMSU. She was a lover of children and education, the desert and it's rocks, family, friends, and a good glass of wine. A celebration of her life will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at 11:03 AM with Pastor Steve Loy officiating.
