Janice (Jan) Semmler Lunsford was called home on November 21, 2020. Janice was born on April 2, 1941 to Myrtis and Melvin Semmler in Caldwell County Texas. Jan was born, raised and lived most her life in Texas, where she worked for a floral distributor until she retired in 2006.

Jan was a very strong independent woman who had a tremendous love for animals. Her home was always full of many different types of animals; her favorite pets that she recalled and enjoyed talking about were her two pet skunks she had. She was always known for helping any stray she came across and for spoiling her family pets with home cooked food and plenty of cuddles and love. She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. She was a devoted mother, daughter, and friend, who was always there for those in need. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing, playing softball, pool, and darts in her spare time. In her later years, after she became legally blind, she enjoyed sitting in her recliner listening to classic western movies and TV shows.

In 2014, Janice came to live with her daughter Christina (Chris) Agull, her son-in-law Jose Miguel Agull and her grandson Barak Michener in Las Cruces. They cared for her, in their family home, as she, battled Alzheimer's until she eventually lost the battle and took her last breath. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded by much Love, Care, and Honor by her daughter Chris and her daughter's family in their family home until she joined her family who had passed before her and found PEACE that she deserved. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her grandson James Howard Michener II (Baby Jim), her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jan is survived by, her daughter Christina Agull (Jose Miguel Agull) of Las Cruces, NM., her daughter Donna Laird (Richard Laird) of La Porte, TX., and her son Robert Lunsford of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Barak Ross Michener, Richard Laird Jr, Ryan Laird and Sarah Parker, as well as 4 great grandchildren.

In honor of her last wishes, after cremation in Las Cruces NM, her ashes will be taken to Cleveland Texas where she will be buried next to her parents in a private ceremony.
