She was also an accomplished private pilot and her favorite airplane was "Big Bird," a Bellanca Super Viking with Big Bird painted on the tail. Janie was a longtime member of the 99's women's flying organization. She loved to travel, dance, paint and socialize. She was also connected to the land title industry, participating in the ownership of Las Cruces Abstract & Title Co., Luna County Abstract & Title, Hidalgo County Abstract Company, Grant County Abstract & Title, and title companies in Midland and McAllen, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Floyd; her grandson, Christopher L. Floyd; and her sisters, Frances Davis and Mary Ann Gault (Melvin). She is survived by her sons: James D.
