Jazilyn Nevaeh Mesa, 15 months of Las Cruces reclaimed her angel wings and flew home to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Her last moments were spent in the arms of her parents. Jerica Gomez and Jesus Mesa were blessed on January 26, 2011 with a beautiful angel who fought all odds for nearly five months in an Albuquerque hospital. After coming out victorious she lived a beautiful life where she stole anyone's heart upon meeting. Jazilyn will always be remembered by her piercing blue gray eyes and her crazy curls. She had the most beautiful smile that would turn anyone's day around and a laughter that would melt anyone's heart. She was very adventurous and loved being outdoors, but if there was anything she loved more it was music and dancing! Especially to the "Hot Dog" Mickey Mouse song. Jazilyn loved the movie Rio and could watch it endlessly without it getting old. One of her favorite games was hide and seek and being chased once she was discovered. Baaaaalll (ball) was one of her most treasured belongings which was classified from anything round/ or circular including bracelets and even a watermelon. Jazilyn was a chatter box and loved to be on the phone, to have a conversation with whoever it was. She would grab the phone and hide and spill her thoughts as quick as she could before being found. And if your phone was lying around, it would be picked up and put through a good amount of talking starting with "low" (hello)? With all of these traits Jazilyn carried, no one could resist giving her all the attention she needed to keep you entertained. Jazilyn loved the spotlight. Green Beans and Gerber cheetos were a must have in the house for her snacking, and we never had to worry about her eating veggies because she loved them more than any other food. Jazilyn is survived by her parents, Jesus Mesa and Jerica Gomez of Las Cruces. Her maternal grandparents Lea Gomez of Las Cruces, and Steve Martinez of Los Lunas, her paternal grandparents Arthur and Leticia Mesa of Las Cruces, three uncles Justin Gomez of Las Cruces, Steven (Melissa) Mesa and Arthur (Maria) Mesa Jr. of Albuquerque; Aunt Amanda Martinez of Las Cruces; Three Great-grandmothers Dora Apodaca and Enedina Melendez both of Las Cruces, and Alice Tiney of Deming; Great-Grandfather Juan B. Martinez of Las Cruces as well as numerous great aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jazilyn will be forever missed by her loved ones and everyone else she touched. Knowing she's in God's hands brings peace, because we will be able to hold her once again when we meet in Heaven. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 from 5-7pm with a Prayer Vigil to follow at 7pm at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral liturgy will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 10am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, given by Father Bill McCann. The right of committal will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at Finnely hall at Immaculate Heart. Serving as pallbearers are Jesus Mesa, Justin Gomez, Arthur Mesa Jr, and Steven Mesa. Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Mesa, Steve Martinez, Eddie Mesa, Mario Gomez, Valentine Gomez Jr, and David Romo Jr. In honor of Jazilyn we ask to no one wear black.
