Jean W Dickson

Jean W. Dickson, aged 87, went to be with her Heavenly Father and love of 68 years, F.J. Dickson, on June 8th, 2016. Jean was born October 17th, 1928 in El Paso, Texas and was the daughter of Loyad and Lola Wiley. She grew up in El Paso where she and her sister, Ann, had a lively and mischievous childhood. She graduated from Ascarte High School where she was a majorette and after high school she attended a business school. After World War II, she met her soul mate, F.J., at a dance and they had an immediate connection. They were married on August 30th, 1947, and worked side by side on their farm in Salem, NM. Besides farming, they raised chickens and sold eggs, and Jean was the official egg delivery woman in the valley. She was a homemaker, loved to dance and square dance and made afghans and quilts. After farming, Jean and F.J. owned the Dairy King in Hatch, NM and besides being a pretty sassy waitress, she was quite the fry cook. In her spare time, she and her mom sold turquoise jewelry. In retirement they settled in Garfield where Jean became adept at the computer researching genealogy, read thousands of books on her Kindle, was inseparable from her cell phone and a non-stop texter! She loved Skechers tennis shoes and had a pair in every style and color! She was the official Grand Champion of the many family Guts games! Jean and her mom and sister became skilled at turning Ostrich eggs into art, like jewelry boxes, clocks and ornaments. She is survived by her three devoted daughters, Lola Cunningham and her husband Gary, Kay Azbill and her husband Elbert Elliott, and Christine Riggs and her husband Gary Don; and her seven adoring grandchildren, Shawne Fielding, Rachel Azbill, Lynae Gomez, Denise Rosser, Chase Cunningham, Amie Green and Shane Riggs. She also had fifteen great grandchildren, Alyssa, Jett, Toby, Jaeden, Ethan, Tappen, Roman, Aiden, Taylor, Madelyn, Ruby, Britton, Trevan, Marshall, and William; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom called her JeJe. She is also survived by her sister, and best friend in the whole world, Ann Anderson. Jean was the peacemaker of the family and always put other's happiness and comfort first. Her life truly revolved around her family. In the 7 months since she lost F.J., she never quite recovered. She missed him every minute of every day, just as she will be missed by all of us. Graveside services will be 10 am Monday June 13, 2016 at The Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch New Mexico. PDF Printable Version
