It is with tremendous sadness we announce Jeannine Scott passed away after a lengthy illness on July 5, 2022 while residing at the Village at Northrise in Las Cruces.

Jeannine Bech was born December 18, 1931 in Paris, France to Joseph and Eugenie Irene Bech.

So many stories Jeannine would share of her upbringing. She would talk about her father as a disciplinarian and her mother as a very strong woman raising five children. The family lived in the small town of Andernay, France and for a short while in Indochina. As a young girl Mom spoke of witnessing the German army march on the Champs Elysees in Paris. She also spoke about her love for dancing and bicycling. Jeannine's brother Jean Marie remembers, as a young child, how Jeannine would return from working in a dairy shop in the neighboring town of Bar-le-Duc.

Every time she returned home; she would bring small cottage cheeses called "Petits Suisses" that her brothers enjoyed.

In 1957, Jeannine fell in love with and would marry an American serviceman named Thomas Ira Scott. She followed Thomas throughout his 20 plus year military career to places throughout the United States and Europe. Along their trek together they raised four sons…..Jesse, Thierry, Jimmy and Thomas who all currently live in Las Cruces. After a well-earned military retirement, Thomas and Jeannine settled in Las Cruces in 1973 moving into their family home they shared for more than 40 years.

Maman (mom) was an incredible cook but was modest about it, but anyone who tasted her food enjoyed wonderful cuisine.

Every summer Jeannine loved to watch the Tour de France bicycle race on television because it showed beautiful scenes of the French countryside and displayed the talent of the cyclists. Jeannine loved listening to singers Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour as well as Dean Martin and Tom Jones.

Mom made friends easily and was always willing to give to charity. She also adored children and loved caring for them often babysitting for friends. Mom was special in that way.

Jeannine is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Michel and sister Josette.

Jeannine is survived by her brother Jean Marie Bech and wife Colette, Gerard Bech and wife Lucienne. She is also survived by her son Thomas Jean Marie Scott, wife Donna, and granddaughter Caitlin Nichele. Jimmy Reymond Scott and granddaughter Amber. Thierry Gerard Scott and Jesse Michel Scott.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Community of Hope. The Scott family would also like to thank Doris Hough for her wonderful friendship.

Private services will take place Wednesday, July 13, 2022 .Jeannine will be laid to rest Thursday, July 14, 2022 next to her husband Thomas at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Las Cruces.
