Jeffery F. Hartshorne, 47, of Las Cruces, passed away June 29 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born January 19, 1960 in Los Alamos, NM and moved to Las Cruces in 1971. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1975. Jeffery F. Hartshorne, 47, of Las Cruces, passed away June 29 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born January 19, 1960 in Los Alamos, NM and moved to Las Cruces in 1971. He was active in Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout in 1975. Following graduation from Mayfield High School in 1978 he attended New Mexico State University and Dona Ana Branch Community College. He then entered the local construction work force where he earned renown as a builder of swimming pools, landscape-watering systems and as a setter of tile and bathroom fixtures. He was particularly noted for the precision and integrity of his work. Jeff is remembered as a person of character who was steadfast as a friend and generous to a fault. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Schulte of Las Cruces, brother Dr. Michael Hartshorne and his wife, Dr. Lida Crooks of Albuquerque, brother Joe Hartshorne and his wife Sonia Diaz de Leon and their sons Eustaquio and Sergio of Rociada, NM, brother Mark Hartshorne and his wife Trina and their daughter Taylor of Denver, Colorado, and brother Steve's son David Pierre Hartshorne and step-brother Fred Schulte of Austin, Texas. Jeff was preceded in death by his father Pierre Hartshorne and brother Steve. A memorial mass to celebrate his life will be at 10:00 AM on Friday July 6, 2007 at St. Albert the Great Newman Center with Fr. Mitch Dowalgo officiating.
