Jerry Lynn Anderson of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on January 5, 2024 at the age 77.

Jerry was born on January 13, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to Norwell and Rosalie Anderson. He grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico and graduated from Alamogordo High School. He went on to graduate from New Mexico University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Jerry Lynn Anderson of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on January 5, 2024 at the age 77.

Jerry was born on January 13, 1946 in Clovis, New Mexico to Norwell and Rosalie Anderson. He grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico and graduated from Alamogordo High School. He went on to graduate from New Mexico University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in combat. Jerry received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his bravery.

He was also awarded an award for this contribution to the mission of the STS Flight-51 and also a Special Achievement Award for working the STS-3 Space Shuttle for NASA. Jerry was chosen to the Honor Flight to Washington DC in September of 2016 to visit the Vietnam Memorial.

Jerry worked for Lockheed Martin at High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility where he was supervisor for installing an elevator at the test site and was so proud of his accomplishment. He worked at the NASA in Las Cruces site for many years in Facilities.

He enjoyed many interest through the years in producing Turquoise jewelry and had a small shop with several employees and his passion for Racing. He raced for more than 30 years throughout his life. He loved the color RED and his car was named, “IT’S ONLY MONEY”. He raced at Holloman Air Force Base, Roswell, Albuquerque, Arroyo Seco, El Paso Raceway and Tucson Race Track. He loved to race and watch the Big Boys run especially John Force. John raced Jerry’s Red Dragster when Jerry was unable to.

Jerry and his wife Mary traveled throughout the United States and overseas. He loved Amsterdam Germany, Barcelona Spain, the Panama Canal, and taking a ride in a Red Helicopter in Alaska.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Norwell and Rosalie Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Mary F. Anderson of 37 years. His son Clint Anderson (Neena) of Las Cruces and daughter Dawn of Albuquerque. His Brother CB Anderson (Darlene), Sister Kay Banfill (John) of Albuquerque as well as nieces and nephews. Grandchildren: Cameron Anderson of Albuquerque and Karissa Anderson of Tucson. Step-grandchildren: Brian Kirker Jr, Angela Kirker, Damon Kirker, Mia Kirker of Las Cruces and Naki Kirker, Julian Mowery-Peterson and Damien Mowery of Wheatridge Colorado. Step-children Mario Kirker (Nancy) Wheatridge, Colorado, Brian Kirker Las Cruces.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 10, 2024 at the VFW at 709 South Valley Drive Las Cruces, New Mexico from 2:00 pm-5:00 pm with Military Honors.

His final resting place will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
